TONY STARK
History: Tony Stark was definitely not his father's son. Whilst Walter Stark showed a great passion for Stark Enterprises, Tony only cared about his own enjoyment. But one day, Justin Hammer sabotaged Stark Enterprises which resulted in an accident which killed Walter. Tony began becoming the son his father wanted, and made Stark Enterprises more successful than ever.
While overseeing a military demonstration of his technology in Afghanistan, Tony tripped a booby trap that killed his escort and lodged shrapnel in his chest. The gravely injured Stark was taken captive by the terrorist leader Wong-Chu, and was informed that within a week the shrapnel would penetrate his heart and kill him. Wong-Chu falsely promised Stark that if he built a powerful weapon, he would be allowed to undergo an operation to save his life. Even though Stark realized the tyrant was lying, he agreed, hoping to gain time and access to tools.
Stark was given access to a small laboratory with another captive, the renowned Asian physicist and Nobel Prize in Physics laureate Professor Ho Yinsen, whose work Stark admired in college. With Yinsen acting as his assistant, Stark designed and built an electrically powered suit of armor with a pacemaker-like device (which he named the Repulsor Tech Node) that enabled Stark's heart to keep beating, the armor was also equipped with heavy offensive weaponry.
Donning the suit, Stark connected it to its power source, an electrical generator. Lying on a table Stark was helpless until the suit was fully charged. In the least fortunate turn of events, Wong-Chu decided to check on his prisoners. Knowing that if they were found all of their work was for nothing, Yinsen decided to sacrifice his own life by distracting Wong-Chu, giving Stark the extra time he needed to charge the armored suit fully. As the Iron Man, Stark avenged Yinsen's death and scattered Wong-Chu's guerrilla troops. Then, still clad in his armor, which was necessary to keep his heart beating, Stark made his way toward the front lines, trying to escape enemy territory.
James Rhodes, a pilot with the United States Marines, had been shot down by rockets while he was on a reconnaissance mission. Rhodes managed to land safely and was attempting to get his helicopter air-worthy when he encountered the wandering Iron Man. After Iron Man helped Rhodes fight off an attack by enemy forces, Rhodes allowed him to drain the helicopter's batteries to recharge his armor. The two continued to make their way back to American forces and stumbled upon a hidden rocket base. Stealing an enemy helicopter, they destroyed the site and flew to the nearest American base.
Back in the United States, Stark redesigned his Repulsor Tech Node, reducing the chest plate's size and weight so he could wear it under his normal clothing.
Tony is an extremely smart businessman. He builds several items to help in his quest to stop crime. He is also a loner, as he often feels he is the only one who can accomplish something and sets off by himself. However, this loner attitude is mainly because he doesn't want anyone to be harmed on his account. Still, it does tend to throw off even his closest friends. Even James Rhodes and Julia Carpenter tend to be somewhat frustrated by the fact that Tony won't let them help.
Equipment: As Iron Man, Tony wears a suit of armor which grants him superhuman strength and speed, the ability to fly and fire repulsor rays and unibeams. Tony always keeps modifying the armor. His most recent addition is a special "Armor Change" ability, which allows him to shape-shift his armor at will depending on the situation. Among the armors he can change into, we have...
Subterranean drill armor - This armor comes with an arm-mounted pneumatic drill for underground burrowing.
Inferno armor - This armor is resistant to extreme temperatures and outfitted with fire-extinguishing foam.
Samurai armor - Only used for melee combat.
Radiation armor - This armor is used to shield Tony against radioactive danger, capable of firing x-ray blasts.
Lava armor - This armor can resist submergence in magma.
Magnetic armor - This armor the ability to generate electromagnetic pulses.
Hydro armor - Is used for underwater situations.
Space armor - Used to break through the Earth's atmosphere, the only thing that appears to be different is that it has a jet pack.
Stealth armor - Is used to stay silent and is unable to be traced by radar.
Hulkbuster armor - Used to deal out and take extreme damage. It's quite effective against larger foes like Firepower.
Tony also has a built-in mechanical heart in order to keep him alive. This mechanical heart is also known as the Repulsor Tech Node.
Powers: All of Tony's power comes from his armor.
Skills: Super-Genius Intelligence, Master Engineer, Expert Businessman, Expert Tactician, Skilled Combatant, Skilled Marksman, Multilingual
Weaknesses: While Tony has quit drinking, when he used to, he would occasionally operate the Iron Man armor while intoxicated, compromising his efficiency.
Due to the shrapnel in his body, Iron Man must keep his suit charged at all times, often involving breaking away from a fight to recharge otherwise he would die. Although the shrapnel was later removed eliminating this weakness.
The Repulsor Tech Node implanted in Stark's chest has the basic machine codes to keep Stark's heart beating. So it needs to be in constant connection with him.
Trivia (optional):
-People consider Stark to be a modern Leonardo da Vinci.
-He's 6'1" tall.
