WAR MACHINE
RHODEY
History: James "Rhodey" Rhodes was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a child, Rhodey failed to save his best friend, Joey, from drowning. This led to a life long fear of water. He later joined the United States Marines becoming a pilot stationed overseas.
On a mission he was blasted out of the sky by enemy rockets, Rhodey managed to land in one piece and was attempting to get his craft airworthy when inventor Tony Stark, clad in his Iron Man Armor, happened to be passing by. Stark had just completed his original armor, had avenged his fellow prisoner Professor Yinsen, and was trying to make his way to the American defense perimeter. Attacked by enemies, Iron Man proved to Rhodey they were on the same side, and Rhodes allowed him to drain the helicopter's batteries to recharge his armor. The two then trekked through the jungle together, finally discovering a hidden enemy rocket base. Stealing an enemy helicopter, they destroyed the base, and flew to the nearest American encampment. Before leaving Afghanistan for the United States, Stark offered Rhodes a job as a pilot as soon as his military stint was over Rhodey initially declined.
After a succession of other jobs, Rhodey finally accepted Stark's offer and became his personal pilot and chief aviation engineer. When devastating personal problems caused Tony Stark to abuse alcohol and become incapable of using the Iron Man armor responsibly, Rhodes put it on in order to defend Stark International from the criminal Magma. He offered to return it but Stark insisted that Rhodes take on the responsibility of being Iron Man for a while to enable Stark to enjoy himself. Reluctantly, Rhodes agreed and War Machine was born. Eventually, Tony came back into action and War Machine became Iron Man's sidekick.
Equipment: Rhodey wears the War Machine armor. It is designed much like the Iron Man Armor but is bigger, has large weapons on the shoulders (a gatling gun and a rocket launcher) and is painted grey. The armor grants Rhodey superhuman strength and speed, the ability to fly and fire repulsor rays and unibeams.
Powers: All of his powers come from the armor.
Abilities: Skilled Engineer, Skilled Aviator, Skilled Combatant, Skilled Marksman, Skilled Survivalist
Weaknesses: Mortal. Rhodey suffers from claustrophobia and has a fear of water. And although he manages to wear the War Machine armor despite his claustrophobia, he sometimes suffocates and starts panicking inside it.
Trivia:
-He doesn't like hanging around with HOMER too much due to his disdain for computers. They still have moments where they do appreciate each other's company, but HOMER mostly teases Rhodey.
-He isn't fond of Nick Fury either.
-He's 6'1" tall.
