History: General Erwin Fitzmaurice is a member of the U.S. Military. General Fitzmaurice secretly oversees SHIELD's operations and informs Nick Fury about what's going on in the Pentagon.
Fitzmaurice and Fury were both childhood friends. They grew up together in Hell's Kitchen and were drafted into the war together. Both Fitzmaurice and Fury rose through the ranks and they were both given their own squads to lead. They also started using the Infinity Formula, a serum that delayed aging, but after a few years, Fitzmaurice got married to the nurse of his squad and they both decided that it was time to drop the annual injections.
Fitzmaurice was Tony Stark's first choice to become director of SHIELD. Although honored by the proposition, Fitzmaurice declined, but he recommended his old friend Nick Fury for the position.
