History: Carol Danvers was a decorated Air Force Major, having joined from a young age and eventually moved to the intelligence field, serving with the CIA for a period of time. While working with NASA, Carol was tasked with investigating the extraterrestrial Kree soldier Mar-Vell, known to them as the original Captain Marvel. Following a confrontation with Mar-Vell's enemy, Yon-Rogg, Carol and Mar-Vell were caught in the explosion of a Kree Psyche-Magnitron.
The energy bombardment of the Psyche-Magnitron somehow caused Carol's genetic structure to be melded with Mar-Vell's, imbuing her hybrid Kree-Human genes, giving her her powers. Taking the identity of Ms. Marvel in honour of Mar-Vell, Carol became a successful superhero, serving alongside the likes of the Avengers and Defenders.
Carol eventually had her powers and memories stolen by Rogue, who at her time was a member of the supervillain group, the Brotherhood of Mutants, before becoming a full time superhero with the X-Men. Her memories were recovered by the X-Men's headmaster Professor X, and entered a long standing partnership with the X-Men.
She was offered to take the mantle of Mar-Vell, but she refused, feeling extremely unworthy of the title. Another reason for this is that she has a lot of insecurities and doesn't want to disappoint anyone. She seems quite tough and confident from the outside, but deep down, she really feels like she needs someone to guide her. She is also struggling with mental problems, caused by her release from Rogue's mind, which seems to have triggered a new personality within Carol.

Superhuman Strength - Carol is superhumanly strong and is listed at a normal level of roughly Class 50. However, since she is able to absorb various types of energy, she can use this energy to temporarily increase her physical strength to class 100+.
Superhuman Speed - She is capable of running and accelerating to high speeds which a human could never achieve.
Superhuman Stamina - Carol's musculature produces considerably less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of an ordinary human. She can physically exert herself at peak capacity for about 24 hours before fatigue begins to impair her. However, she is capable of channeling absorbed energy to further increase her stamina to higher levels.
Superhuman Durability - The tissues of her body are considerably harder and more resistant to physical injury than those of an ordinary human. Miss Marvel is capable of withstanding high caliber bullets, great impact forces, falls from great heights, exposure to temperature and pressure extremes, and powerful energy blasts without sustaining any injury. While channelling the energy she has absorbed, her body's resilience is extended to an even greater degree. Recently, she has proved capable of surviving and fighting in the vacuum of space, only requiring an air supply to do so.
Superhuman Agility - Carol's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
Superhuman Reflexes - Her reflexes are heightened in a similar manner and are superior to those of the finest human athlete.
Flight - Carol is capable of propelling herself through the air and the vacuum of space at tremendous speeds. Although her top speed is unknown, she has been shown flying at three times speed of sound for several hours, so it is likely she can go much faster.
Flash Precognition/Cosmic Awareness/Hyper-Cosmic Awareness - Part of her original power set as Ms. Marvel, Carol was subconsciously able to anticipate the moves of her opponents, though this power was not exactly reliable and activated randomly.
Contaminant Immunity - Carol possesses an amalgamated human/alien Kree physiology that granted her a degree of immunity to toxins and poisons.
Photonic Blasts - Carol can fire powerful concussion blasts of photon and stellar light energy from her hands and fingertips.
Energy Absorption - Her body is capable of absorbing various types of energy for the purpose of temporarily enhancing her own physical attributes. She can augment her strength and energy projection up to the force of an exploding nuclear weapon.
Regenerative Healing Factor - The absorbed energy increases the potency of her metabolism, allowing her to quickly regenerate from catastrophic wounds.
Minor Molecular Control - She can use absorbed energy to transform her regular clothing into her costume and vice-versa.
Binary can tap the energy of a white hole, that region of space which is the exit-point of a point singularity's ultimate inward collapse out of this universe and into another. (A black hole is a slightly more massive star than Earth's sun that has aged to the point that its fusion reaction has burned most of its hydrogen fuel and can no longer balance the weight of its outer layers with stellar flame. When the imbalance reaches a critical point, the outer layers collapse inward, producing depending on the original mass of star, a neutron star, black hole, or point singularity. A point singularity is such an extreme distortion of the space/time fabric of our universe that it extends into another universe. Under some circumstances, the extension is able to loop back into our space/time at some distance. This reentrance into our universe is a white hole.) This inter-dimensional breach is the 'weak' point at which Binary is able to divert small portions of cosmic energies into mentally activated disturbances of the space/time continuum around her. She is able to shape these disturbances into various lenses that focus or diffuse these relatively vast energies for a number of star-like effects. Binary is able to radiate heat, light, and the rest of the electromagnetic spectrum as well as gravity. Presumably the total amount of energy she can manifest is related to the cross-section, or "'window" she allows to open between universes. For example, an 8-inch diameter "hole" in the surface of a point singularity would let out a torrent of various energies. Binary is apparently able to apply a mental filter to these energies, allowing only the energies she chooses to pass through.
By directing stellar energy uni-directionally, she has a means of propulsion enabling her to fly at near light speed. Whether she can travel unaided through inter-universe regions is not yet known. She also has a sensitivity to the flux of ambient cosmic energies, giving her certain heightened perceptions.
Binary has a steady flux of cold "pseudo flames" corruscating in small spheres around her head and hands that represent the greatest regions of her concentration.

She also has a tendency to have panic attacks when a situation gets out of hand, and this makes her even more vulnerable. These mental breakdowns have been quite frequent ever since Rogue gave her back her memories and powers. The death of Mar-Vell also had a factor to play in Carol's mental state, but it also seems that the nightmares and hallucinations that she sometimes has are caused by an evil personality residing within her.
