History: Ricky Deter is the brother of race car driver Buzz Deter.
Although a very friendly and kind soul, Ricky has a problem. He is a mentally handicapped boy. Buzz has taken care of Ricky since he was 16. Their mother had died a year before and their father suffered a stroke while Buzz was in the army. Even with all the rough times they went through, Buzz and Ricky became closer to each other. Buzz decided to become a driver just to have enough money to take care of Ricky. However, Ricky just wasn't made for racing. He had a natural feeling for art, especially sculpture.
Buzz was reluctant to send Ricky to a special education school at first, but after some dangerous incidents at the racing track which almost took Ricky's life, he decided that Ricky should go. Now Ricky is learning how to be a sculptor at the Harris School for Special Education.
