History: D.W. Banner is the patriarch of the Banner family.
D.W. was married to a beautiful woman named Elizabeth and they had a son and a daughter, David and Helen. While Helen and David spent time with their mother, D.W. was working on the farm. However, then came the day when Elizabeth got sick. Young David was insistent on having a doctor taking care of her, but D.W. and Elizabeth told him that everything would be alright. D.W. just went back to work, but a few hours later, Elizabeth started to get worse. David went to D.W. and they both rushed back to the house. However, it was too late. Elizabeth had died. David blamed D.W. for Elizabeth's death, and he left the farm after he graduated from high school.
D.W. is a stern, gruff and authoritative father figure, but deep down, he just thinks about what's best for his children. His relationship with David used to be pretty conflictive, but he now wants to try and finally have a good relationship with his son.
