History: Greg Mitchell is a private investigator and the father of young detective Penny Mitchell.
A retired police officer, Mitchell was close friends with Ben Parker, and it was through him that Penny met Ben's nephew Peter when they both were small. Penny became quite friendly with the shy, introverted boy and found him to be quite different from all the other kids. However, when Greg was away, he left Penny at Dave Harrison's house, where she played with Dave and Gwen Stacy. She then gave Dave the idea to invite Peter to his house so they could all hang out. From this moment on, the four youngsters became instant friends.
Penny looked up to Greg so much that instead of watching the typical TV shows girls would watch, she would spend her time watching Dragnet, Adventures of Superman and Dick Tracy. She wanted to be a cop, but Greg told her to go through school and college to get knowledge about other subjects before training to become an officer.
Greg still lives in Queens and, along with the Harrisons, frequently checks on May Parker.
