CARL
BRO
History: In an alternate reality, Carl Morrell used to be an average boy with average problems until he was bitten by a radioactive spider. He gained the proportionate strength and abilities of a spider and decided to use them for good. He became known as Spider-Man and battled many criminals. However, life became harder for the troubled youngster. He lost his first love interest, Julie Masters, to a criminal known as Firebug and almost took his own life. However, a girl named Judy Tyler comforted him and took care of him.
Later on, while fighting Julie's killer, Carl was sucked into this reality along with two classmates. However, he couldn't see if Judy was transported as well or not. However, he did find out that his spider powers were now completely gone.
Carl entered ESU and lived a normal life for a while, which is something that he really missed. However, he still was quite unhappy with himself and kept his distance from everyone. He then started attempting suicide again, but he was stopped by Peter Parker and Ben Reilly. Ben took him to Ravencroft, where Carl would start putting his life back together and overcome his depression. Eventually, when the Green Goblin returned, Carol Danvers was captured. Feeling guilt, Carl ran away from Ravencroft until he was found by SPIDOC, who offered him a chance to help the world. Although reluctant to go back to the frontlines, Carl accepted SPIDOC's offer.
SPIDOC managed to give Carl his powers back and gave him a technologically advanced suit, which includes a wisecracking and tough-as-nails drone dubbed the "Spider-Bro", which Carl can summon to deal with hordes of enemies when he's busy with another horde.
Equipment: The Tech Spider suit is a lightweight armor that can stop common knives and small arms fire. Its optics come with night vision and telescopic lenses. The lenses allow Carl to see through its eyes if he doesn't set it to automated back up mode. It also gives Carl moves and power levels akin to his base self, doubling his physical feats. The armor also has built-in web-shooters.
Carl has also made his own addition to the suit, building a special tracking system for spider tracers into the Spider-Mask in order to replace the rather rudimentary and outdated tracking beeper that Peter Parker uses.
With the Tech Spider armor, Carl can summon a drone named Spider-Bro that can track and contain foes with a built in web shooter, energy stun shots, or even a sonic emitter for symbiotes.
Powers:
Spider Physiology - Carl possesses the proportionate powers of a spider, granted to him from an irradiated Common House Spider (Achaearanea tepidariorum) which bit him that was apparently already mutated from prior exposure to certain frequencies of radiation and received a final, lethal dose during Carl's attendance of the exhibition. The radioactive, complex mutagenic enzymes in the spider's blood that were transferred at the time of the bite triggered numerous body-wide mutagenic changes within Carl, granting him superhuman strength, speed, toughened flesh, and numerous arachnid-like abilities. That mutation granted him an "enhanced chromosome pattern".
Wall-Crawling - Carl's exposure to the mutated spider venom induced a mutagenic, cerebellum-wide alteration of his engrams resulting in the ability to mentally control the flux of inter-atomic attraction (electrostatic force) between molecular boundary layers. This overcomes the outer electron shell's normal behavior of mutual repulsion with other outer electron shells and permits the tremendous potential for electron attraction to prevail. The mentally controlled sub-atomic particle responsible for this has yet to be identified. This ability to affect the attraction between surfaces is so far limited to Carl's body (especially concentrated in his hands and feet) and another object, with an upper limit of several tons per finger.
Superhuman Strength - Carl possesses superhuman strength enabling him to press lift many tons. Carl's physical strength is sufficient enough to enable him to lift and throw objects as heavy as a big rig semi truck with ease. He must also pull his punches and kicks unless fighting someone of similar or greater physical durability. Otherwise, his blows would prove fatal to a normal human being. He has demonstrated that he is strong enough to knock out people with normal durability with as little as a tap to the head.
Superhuman Speed - Carl is capable of running and moving at speeds that are far beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete. Carl has shown to be fast enough to catch up to an accelerating car while on foot, but prefers to travel by webs. Carl moves faster than the eye can follow, he has even moved so fast he appears as a blur.
Superhuman Stamina - Carl's advanced musculature produces less fatigue toxins during physical activity than an ordinary human. This allows him to exert himself physically for much longer periods of time before fatigue begins to impair him. At his peak, Carl can physically exert himself at his peak capacity for several hours before the build up of fatigue toxins in his blood begins to impair him.
Regenerative Healing Factor - Carl has a low-level rapid healing factor. While not on Wolverine's level, it is sufficiently powerful enough to recover from severe injuries from broken bones and large amounts of tissue damage in a matter of hours.
Contaminant Immunity - Due to his accelerated metabolism, Carl has a higher tolerance for drugs and diseases than normal humans, and he can recover from the effects of larger doses rapidly.
Superhuman Equilibrium - Carl possesses the ability to achieve a state of perfect equilibrium in any position imaginable. He seems able to adjust his position by instinct, which enables him to balance himself on virtually any object, no matter how small or narrow.
Superhuman Reflexes - Carl's reflexes are similarly enhanced and are currently about forty times greater than those of an ordinary human. In combination with his spider-sense, the speed of his reflexes allows him to dodge almost any attack, or even gunfire, given sufficient distance. Carl has even been shown in some cases, to be able to dodge gunfire using just his reflexes without his Spider-Sense.
Spider-Sense - Carl possesses an extrasensory "danger" or "spider" sense which warns him of potential immediate danger by the manifestation of a tingling sensation in the back of his skull, and links with his superhuman kinesthetics, enabling him to evade most any injuries, unless he cognitively overrides his automatic reflexes.
Abilities: Indomitable Will, Genius-Level Intellect, Expert Inventor/Engineer, Science Major, Skilled Photographer, Master Acrobat, Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant, Street Smarts.
Weaknesses: Carl is mortal. He is quite headstrong and impulsive a lot of times, especially if someone he cares about is in danger. He also suffers from depression and has suicidal tendencies.
If Carl and the suit are destroyed, Spider-Bro will cease to function.
Trivia:
-Whenever Carl is down, it's Spider-Bro's job to cheer him up and make him feel less lonely.
-40-year old Spider-Man came up with the Spider-Bro name, much to SPIDOC's disappointment. However, in a way, it fits, since Carl's relationship with Bro is somewhat similar to Peter's brotherly relationship with Ben Reilly.
-Bro is somewhat smitten with Gwenom. He knows it won't happen, but he doesn't care. It's just so much fun to tease her.
-He's 6' tall.
