History: Fred J. Dukes of Earth-37 was born in Lubbock, Texas. He joined a circus sideshow, using his abilities under the stage name "Blob". Professor X sensed his mutant power and sent out his students to locate Dukes. Fred was initially uninterested in the X-Men until he saw Jean Grey. He agreed to go along with them in order to spend time with her. After a battery of tests, Professor X determined that the Blob truly was a mutant and extended him an invitation become an X-Man. The rest of the team disliked the Blob's obnoxious attitude, but they seemed to understand in this reality that...it was due to a harsh life of being looked down on. A bit of empathy oddly allowed their sparring match to be better coordinated into a stand still. Impressed, Fred joined. At first he kept his alias of The Blob, but then he began to dislike it, seeing it as a remnant of his part enmity and bitterness. He soon changed his alias to Massive and lightened up. Soon he became pretty close to his Bobby and Hank, the trio often playing tricks on the others in good fun, and Fred grew to be protective of them.
In time he won over his reality's Toad, who also joined the X-Men. And when the group visited Krakoa, due to Massive's nature and training, only he was captured. Still the X-Men sought help from others, and a mix of the team of Vulcan and Wolverine's was gathered to save him. Rescued, Fred doubly swore to stay on his path and had become a force of good.
Mojo, seeking out interesting people to flesh out what he saw was humdrum in the X-Men roster, recruited Massive to join Earth-19's X-Men. Now dealing with a reality where being the Blob was all he knew, Massive is fighting to try and inpsire his other self and stop Magneto one and for all.
Equipment: None
Powers:
Superhuman Durability and Strength: Massive's body possesses a high degree of resistance to injury. The fat tissues that comprise the Blob's epidermis are able to absorb the impact of rifle bullets, cannonballs, bazooka, and even torpedoes. The fat tissue of his epidermis is resilient enough to revert to its normal shape within seconds after deformation caused by impact. It is virtually impervious to physical injury. Massive's skin cannot be punctured or lacerated by most known materials, frostbitten, or ravaged by any skin disease, due in part to the skin's greatest elasticity and toughness and in part to the highly accelerated rate at which his skin cells grow and replace themselves. MAssive is superhumanly strong and capable of lifting 70 tons.
It is not yet known if there is an upper limit to Massive's ability to absorb impact. He could easily survive a head-on collision with a bus traveling at a hundred miles per hour.
Pain Immunity: Massive's nerve endings do not relay any tactile perception to his brain, which are near the threshold of pain, which makes it so that he is unable to feel pain.
Trapping: Massive is able to capture anything that attacks him within his flesh, including limbs and projectiles. He is able to control how long he holds the object and releasing it with or without the recoil pressure. However, it takes Massive’s full concentration and focus to trap an object or individual, and if he were to focus on something else or get distracted by an attack from another person, he would lose control of his muscles and release who or whatever he was holding with his body.
Projectile Redirection: After Massive's body absorbs the kinetic energy of a projectile's impact, he can expel the object back. For example, if a projectile was shot at him, it would be embedded within Massive’s body and by flexing the muscles where the projectile is at, he can cause the projectile to be recoiled with half the force of impact, reflecting it back at half speed. Massive can also recoil a punch thrown at him and throw the opponent back a good distance.
Gravitational Mass Allocation: massive main superhuman ability was to become virtually immovable at will as long as he was in contact with the ground. He did this by bonding himself to the earth beneath him by force of will, which in effect created a mono-directional increase of gravity beneath him. This gravity field extended about five feet in radius from his center of balance. Thus if there were sufficient power to uproot him, it would take the ground beneath his feet in an area corresponding to the radius of the field. Through intense concentration, Massive was able to extend the gravity field beneath him farther than five feet.
Gravity implosion: It was discovered that after a long period of time, Massive could expand his field further. This would however leave him open. It took him days to use this power to blow out of a cell that held him. But since then he has learned to focus this power enough to concentrate it in his feet. After about one post of time. Fred can launch himself 20 feet in the air. He can come down with enough force to pulverize a Sentinel's body. His power and physiology allows him to survive such a drop.
Abilities:
Massive is a formidable hand to hand combatant. Having gotten in training with his Wolverine, Colossus and Beast his great size coupled with his strength and resistance to injury render him a highly efficient and effective street fighter and grappler.
While not superhuman, Massive has higher speed, agility, and stamina than his size would indicate, which he often uses to surprise his opponents.
Weaknesses: Using his implosion leaves him immobile at first. He cannot move if he intends to use it. He is very slow. His mouth and insides are vulnerable to harm.
Trivia:
- The implosion trick was a one time power Mystique trained him to use to bust of of jail when she formed her Brotherhood in the comics. i figure he might learn how to use that more if he was an X-Man.
- Massive is still a bit of a jerk, but it's more Raphael is cool but rude jerkiness.
- Call him Fat Bastard and you get tossed a mile away.
