IRON SPIDEY (ATTACK MODE)
PETER
History: Peter Benjamin Parker was born in Queens to CIA agents Richard and Mary Parker. While Peter was still an infant, his parents were assigned to infiltrate the Algerian based spy ring controlled by the Skymaster. The moment the Skymaster learned that Richard and Mary were double agents, he had them killed and then framed them for treason. Peter went to live with his uncle and aunt, Ben and May Parker, in Forest Hills, New York; they became Peter’s surrogate parents and raised him as if he were their own son. Over the next nine years, Parker grew to be extremely bright in science and became a high honors student at Midtown High School. Parker's shyness and scholastic interest often made him a social outcast and a target for bullies, primarily football star Flash Thompson. Nevertheless, Peter did eventually graduate from high school and got a college scholarship from ESU.
While attending a public exhibition demonstrating the safe handling of nuclear laboratory waste materials, sponsored by the General Techtronics Corporation, the 19-year-old Peter Parker was bitten on the hand by a spider that had been irradiated by a particle accelerator used in the demonstration. Unbeknownst to him, after the spider fell from his hand, it died from the radiation. Making his way home afterwards, Peter was almost hit by a car; when Peter jumped out of the way, Peter discovered he had somehow gained incredible strength, agility, and the ability to cling to walls, spider-like traits that he immediately associated with the spider bite.
Encountering an ad offering a cash prize for staying in the ring for three minutes with professional wrestler Joseph "Crusher" Hogan, Peter decided this would be a good way to test his powers. Wearing a mask to avoid potential embarrassment in case he lost the match, Peter easily defeated his opponent. TV producer Maxwell Shiffman observed his performance and convinced him to go on television with his 'act.' Designing a full costume and fabricating a fluid similar to a spider's web and wrist-mounted web-shooters, Peter called himself Spider-Man, becoming an immediate sensation.
Following his first TV appearance, Peter failed to act to stop an escaping thief, claiming that it was not his responsibility to do so. Peter forgot the incident as his fame rose, but days later he returned home at night to find his Uncle Ben had been murdered. Learning the police had the burglar responsible holed up in a warehouse, Peter changed to Spider-Man and easily captured him only to discover he was the same thief he had allowed to escape earlier. Filled with remorse, he realized that when someone has power, he has an obligation to use it responsibly, so he decided to become a superhero.
However, life became tougher for young Peter and he used his superhero identity to escape from all the problems real life brought on him. His girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, tried to convince him to give up the Spider-Man suit, but to no avail. This led to Gwen's death at the hands of the Green Goblin. This incident brought Peter into a downward spiral and made him finally give up being Spider-Man, keeping a promise to Gwen of not letting the suit control his life ever again.
For a year, Peter did things and handled every trouble without relying on Spider-Man. But still, he was empty inside. He tried dating other women (like Mary Jane Watson, Alyona Korsakov, Alisa Silvermane, Dinah Vitelli, Betty Brant, Kate Cushing, Carol Danvers, Yuri Watanabe, Medusa, Carol Webster, US Senator Denise Lindberg, Mona Osborn and a rather mysterious girl by the name of Gretchen Frank), but none of them made him feel the same things Gwen did, until his old crush Joyce Delaney was made into a Gwen Stacy clone. Peter had been secretly in love with Joyce ever since they first met, but couldn't really act on his feelings, and when he first saw her with Gwen's appearance, his pain returned full force, seeing the two women he loved most combined into one. Nevertheless, Peter learned to accept Joyce despite her haunting resemblance to Gwen.
Life became harder and harder every day. Peter became involved in a coin robbery case and was arrested for not delivering evidence to the police. Eventually, he was released after he proved that the main suspect had been framed by her own husband, who had staged the robbery in the first place. Still, this cost Peter his job at the Bugle and his previous girlfriend Mary Jane Watson was brought on board as his replacement.
Now without employment, Peter became involved with the police force as an evidence finder whenever the cops needed someone to sneak into warehouses and expose all illegal activities going on in there. This work almost cost him his life after Hammerhead tried to murder Peter in his own apartment. Worse still, Peter's Aunt May suffered a heart attack and passed away, which left Peter in a state of despair and almost made him leave New York forever. His clone brother Ben Reilly and Police Captain Irwin Barbera convinced him to stay, saying that Aunt May wouldn't want him to stop doing good for other people.
Peter went back to the city, but after discovering that the SHIELD organization had been keeping secrets from him, he almost went insane with rage. He was also shocked by the appearance of another Gwen Stacy clone with the original's personality. All the anger, regret and pain he felt dissipated when Joyce comforted him and inspired him to keep fighting and let go of the past. It was then that Peter decided to admit his feelings for Joyce and started dating her. He also understood that Gwen told him to find balance when she said not to let the suit take over his life, so after a year of absence, Spider-Man returned to the fight, more inspired and determined than ever.
Eventually, a group named the Web Warriors brought Peter into their Headquarters (the Crystal Palace) and offered Peter a position as part of the team as well as a new suit. Peter accepted, and now, he is ready to fight against evil alongside other people just like him and alternate versions of himself.
Peter is a young, meek, sensitive college student, yet he can be quite an admirable "take charge" kind of guy at times. He has a great sense of justice and he always tries to help others in any way he can. Despite his powers and abilities and his sense of humor, Peter was not a happy man for quite some time. Due to having to hide his identity from everybody, he was forced to live alone. He sometimes didn't know if his powers could be a blessing or a curse. He tended to be quite a quipper as Spider-Man, but that was just a facade to hide his own insecurities and problems.
When he started dating Joyce Delaney, Peter's hope in humanity was restored. Joyce brought him the same kind of happiness Gwen Stacy did and it made him feel like he belonged somewhere.
Equipment: Peter was given the Iron Spider armor by SPIDOC. Even though he was impressed by it, he still felt there was room for additions. With the help of his girlfriend Joyce Delaney and his best friend Dave Harrison, Peter modified the suit, making it able to morph and change upon command between the Iron Spider armor and Peter's black suit. The armor's abilities include...
Waldoes - Part of SPIDOC's original design. The Iron Spider Armor possessed three mechanical spider-arms, or "waldoes," created from rapidly grown mono-atomic iron alloy crystal. These could be used to see around corners (via cameras in the tips) and to manipulate objects indirectly. When in the stowed position, the arms remain within the gold "circle" on Spider-Man's back. These arms are rapidly grown at the rate of 90 inches per second, Hollow construction allows for all material to be stored within the small back-mounted pack, and the command for growth is achieved via fast neural net-detection and amplification. The waldoes even have small grippers at the tips working as pseudo fingers.
Glider Device - Another original design idea. It could glide via mesh webbing on its arms. The pseudo web form is a biodegradable filament generator. This allows for controlled gliding. Near invisible gossamer filaments extend for 20 meters- rapid growth and detachment.
Enhanced Chestpiece - This modification was added by Dave Harrison. A foamed titanium nitrile fabric chestpiece has body contoured and articulated panels to support the occupant. The chestpiece contains the highest concentration of Kasimir Plate Batteries -- nano-scale power generating devices that exploit "zero point" energy. Can generate 1.2kWatts at peak demand.
Mask Filter - An addition made by Joyce Delaney. A self-cleaning electrostatic precipitation system allows for full Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Filtration. It also had an 8 minutes worth compressed air capacity, which helped in situations underwater.
Enhanced Lenses - Another one of Dave's additions. The Headpiece contains large area holographic lensing to allow for long eye-relief and panoramic real-world/-time viewing. Includes several optical spectrum modes with synthesized information overlay.
Constituent Costume Containment - Peter's first addition to the suit. Part of the costume could detach itself to cover an object too dangerous to touch, such as a radioactive asteroid.
Repair Layer - Joyce's knowledge about biology helped quite a bit in implementing this upgrade. Self-repair/limited mechanical repair. Also first aid with limited external first aid.
Impact Layer - National Institute of Justice Threat Level III Resistant. Heat-resistant Kevlar micro-fiber stops small arms fire.
Light Emitting Plastic Layer - A team effort upgrade by Peter, Joyce and Dave. Allows for camouflage (but the darker the surface that Spider-Man blends to the better the the camouflage) and also allows Spider-Man to change the color and style of his suit.
Web-Shooters - Peter had managed to build the web-shooters into the black suit's gloves and then, implemented that into the Iron Spider suit thanks to SPIDOC's resources.
Powers:
Spider Physiology - Spider-Man possesses the proportionate powers of a spider, granted to him from an irradiated Common House Spider (Achaearanea tepidariorum) which bit Peter Parker that was apparently already mutated from prior exposure to certain frequencies of radiation and received a final, lethal dose during Parker's attendance of the exhibition. The radioactive, complex mutagenic enzymes in the spider's blood that were transferred at the time of the bite triggered numerous body-wide mutagenic changes within Parker, granting him superhuman strength, speed, toughened flesh, and numerous arachnid-like abilities. That mutation granted him an "enhanced chromosome pattern". Ezekiel Sims revealed to Peter that his powers were not of scientific origin, but were a sign that he had become a totemic avatar of the Web of Life and Destiny. While Peter initially struggled to accept this, he later came to the conclusion that both were plausible, and has had his powers mystically augmented on a number of occasions. Nick Fury's intel classified him as power level 8.
Wall-Crawling - Spider-Man's exposure to the mutated spider venom induced a mutagenic, cerebellum-wide alteration of his engrams resulting in the ability to mentally control the flux of inter-atomic attraction (electrostatic force) between molecular boundary layers. This overcomes the outer electron shell's normal behavior of mutual repulsion with other outer electron shells and permits the tremendous potential for electron attraction to prevail. The mentally controlled sub-atomic particle responsible for this has yet to be identified. This ability to affect the attraction between surfaces is so far limited to Spider-Man's body (especially concentrated in his hands and feet) and another object, with an upper limit of several tons per finger. At one point, Spider-Man was able to prevent Anti-Venom from taking his mask off by making it stick to his face.
Superhuman Strength - Spider-Man possesses superhuman strength enabling him to press lift many tons. Spider-Man's physical strength is sufficient enough to enable him to lift and throw objects as heavy as a big rig semi truck with ease. He must also pull his punches and kicks unless fighting someone of similar or greater physical durability. Otherwise, his blows would prove fatal to a normal human being. He has demonstrated that he is strong enough to knock out people with normal durability with as little as a tap to the head. As such, he rarely lets himself use all of his strength - after Doctor Octopus had taken over Spider-Man's body, he easily punched off the Scorpion's (a foe normally regarded as physically tougher than Spider-Man) jaw as he hadn't known off Spider-Man's true strength. Spider-Man's physical strength also extends into his legs, enabling him to be able to jump to a height of several stories in a single bound. Spider-Man demonstrated this when he leaped over thirty feet vertically into the air when he first leaped out of the way of an oncoming car; it should also be noted that when he first discovered his powers as a teenager, they had not developed to that of his prime.
Superhuman Speed - Spider-Man is capable of running and moving at speeds that are far beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete. Spider-Man has shown to be fast enough to catch up to an accelerating car while on foot, but prefers to travel by webs. Spider-Man moves faster than the eye can follow, he has even moved so fast he appears as a blur. Spider-Man was able to easily outrun multiple goblin masquerade on goblin gliders, and outmaneuver their ranged attacks at the same time.
Superhuman Stamina - Spider-Man's advanced musculature produces less fatigue toxins during physical activity than an ordinary human. This allows him to exert himself physically for much longer periods of time before fatigue begins to impair him. At his peak, Spider-Man can physically exert himself at his peak capacity for several hours before the build up of fatigue toxins in his blood begins to impair him. Several accounts depict Spider-Man as able to hold his breath for eight minutes or more.
Superhuman Durability - Spider-Man's body is physically tougher and more resistant to some types of injury than the body of a normal human. His body is more resistant to impact forces than anything else. He can withstand great impacts, such as falling from a height of several stories or being struck by an opponent with super strength, that would severely injure or kill a normal human with little to no discomfort. In the past, he has survived multiple blows from the likes of The Hulk, as well as surviving a point blank missile explosion. Spider-Man's body is durable to the point where tensing his super-strong muscles while being punched in the torso by a trained heavyweight boxer caused the attacker's wrists to break; also, Spider-Man has stated that he must roll with punches thrown by people without similar strength or durability to avoid breaking their wrists.
Superhuman Agility - Spider-Man's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are all enhanced to levels that are far beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete. Spider-Man is extraordinarily limber and his tendons and connective tissues are twice as elastic as the average human being's, despite their enhanced strength. He has the combined agility and acrobatic prowess of the most accomplished circus aerialists and acrobats. He can also perform any complicated sequence of gymnastic stunts such as flips, rolls, and springs. He can easily match or top any Olympic record at gymnastics apparatus such as flying rings, climbing ropes, horizontal bars, trampolines, and even surpass the likes of Captain America and Daredevil.
Regenerative Healing Factor - Spider-Man has a low-level rapid healing factor. While not on Wolverine's level, it is sufficiently powerful enough to recover from severe injuries from broken bones and large amounts of tissue damage in a matter of hours. During a battle with a villain called the Masked Marauder, Spider-Man is rendered completely blind, however after about 2 days his sight was perfect, albeit sensitive for about a day after. In his encounter with Firebrand, Spider-Man suffered severe 3rd degree burns, but completely healed in a unspecified amount of time.
Contaminant Immunity - Due to his accelerated metabolism, Spider-Man has a higher tolerance for drugs and diseases than normal humans, and he can recover from the effects of larger doses rapidly. During an encounter with the Swarm, Spider-Man was incapacitated by thousands of bee stings, but recovered in less than 24 hours. His resistance and recovery time to other toxins and diseases varies, but is typically significantly higher than normal. Spider-Man's unique physiology even allowed him to recover from the effects of vampirism as stated by Blade, his radioactive blood will kill the enzymes responsible for his transformation and revert him to normal. Spider-Man was able to recover completely from acid being spat into his eyes by the new Vulture although the extent of the damage may have been restricted due to his superhuman durability. However, Spider-Man has the normal human tolerance for alcoholic beverages.
Superhuman Equilibrium - Spider-Man possesses the ability to achieve a state of perfect equilibrium in any position imaginable. He seems able to adjust his position by instinct, which enables him to balance himself on virtually any object, no matter how small or narrow.
Superhuman Reflexes - Spider-Man's reflexes are similarly enhanced and are currently about forty times greater than those of an ordinary human. In combination with his spider-sense, the speed of his reflexes allows him to dodge almost any attack, or even gunfire, given sufficient distance. Spider-Man has even been shown in some cases, to be able to dodge gunfire using just his reflexes without his Spider-Sense.
Spider-Sense - Spider-Man possesses an extrasensory "danger" or "spider" sense which warns him of potential immediate danger by the manifestation of a tingling sensation in the back of his skull, and links with his superhuman kinesthetics, enabling him to evade most any injuries, unless he cognitively overrides his automatic reflexes. The precise nature of this sense is unknown, though the Master Weaver states it is enabled by his connection to the Web of Life and Destiny. It appears to be a simultaneous clairvoyant response to a wide variety of phenomena (everything from falling safes to speeding bullets to thrown punches), which has given several hundredths of a second warning, which is sufficient time for his reflexes to allow him to avoid injury. The sense also can create a general response on the order of several minutes - he cannot discern the nature of the threat by the sensation. He can, however, discern the severity of the danger by the strength of his response to it. Spider-Man's spider-sense is directional and can guide him to or away from hidden weapons and enemies.Sudden and extreme threats can cause his spider-sense to react with painful intensity. Spider-Man can also sense and dodge attacks directed randomly or by an artificial intelligence. Using his spider-sense to time his enhanced reflexes, Spider-Man can casually dodge attacks up to and including automatic-weapons fire, provided there is sufficient distance. His spider-sense is sufficiently well-linked to his reflexes to the point that a threat can trigger them even when Spider-Man is asleep or stunned. His spider-sense has helped him preserve his secret identity since it alerts him to observers or cameras when changing into or out of his costume. The spider-sense does react to those who Peter does not consider to be a threat, such as Aunt May, or when a fellow hero makes a bluff while playing poker. Spider-Man can choose to ignore his spider-sense, and distraction or fatigue diminish its effectiveness. Spider-Man's fighting style incorporates the advantage that his "spider-sense" provides him. His body begins to produce more adrenaline after the sense is triggered, an extension of the 'fight or flight syndrome.' Even when he does not have the use of his eyes, Spider-Man can still use his Spider Sense in a similar fashion to Daredevil's Radar Sense to help him see by sensing the direction the danger is coming from by listening on the loudest noise around him. This was first used after Spider-Man was temporarily blinded by a device but was recently used again to help locate the new Vulture after his acidic breath blinded him.
Radio Frequency Detection - Peter's spider-sense also enables him to track certain radio frequencies, which he has used to his advantage via his Spider-Tracers.
Abilities: Indomitable Will, Genius-Level Intellect, Expert Inventor/Engineer, Science Major, Skilled Photographer, Master Acrobat, Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant, Street Smarts.
Weaknesses: Peter is an extremely sickly boy. He suffers from asthma and allergies and he has to constantly carry allergy pills and an inhaler.
Despite his constant wisecracks, Peter is also extremely insecure and doubtful of himself.
Trivia:
-Tobacco and reptiles cause Peter to have extreme allergic reactions. Whenever he fights the Lizard or has to sneak into a warehouse with bags of tobacco, he'll start sneezing like crazy.
-He is also allergic to sabretooth tigers, so don't get him close to Sabu.
-There is a slight vocal difference between Peter and Spidey. Peter speaks naturally when he's a civilian, but as Spider-Man, he develops a sort of deadpan snark which differentiates him from his normal Peter personality.
-The Beyonder is observing Peter quite thoroughly. He has seen a lot of potential in him, but he still has doubts that this frail, sickly yet determined boy will be able to save the universe.
-He's 6' tall.
Sample Post:
Dave Harrison, Carl Morrell and Spider-Gwen were testing Peter's new armor. Peter was wearing the armor without the Spider-Mask. Dave looked up at another console above. Joyce Delaney was there, checking on Peter's stamina levels.
"You ready for the test, Joyce?" asked Dave.
Joyce gave him a thumbs up.
"Cool, then let's start with the suit change test." said Dave.
He then pressed some buttons and gave Peter an A-OK sign. Peter nodded and started with the test.
"Suit mode." said Peter.
As he gave that command, the Iron Spider armor changed into the regular black Spidey suit. He then gave another command.
"Iron Spider mode." said Peter.
The suit then morphed back into the Iron Spider armor. Spider-Gwen looked up at Joyce.
"How's things up there, Joyce?" asked Spider-Gwen.
"Perfect. The armor change didn't drain any energy from Peter." said Joyce from above.
"Awesome. Now our boyo is ready for action with his new threads." said Spider-Gwen.
Peter walked out of the testing lab and into the consoles.
"How did I do." asked Peter.
"Excellent. Joyce's repair layer really works well. It not only heals you and repairs the suit, but it also recharges your energy during suit change cycles." said Carl.
Peter looked up at Joyce and smiled. He blew her a kiss and winked. Joyce blushed and blew a kiss back at him.
"I seriously love that girl." said Peter smoothly.
