History: Richard Parker was born and raised in Queens, New York City. He lived there with his older brother Ben Parker. Richard was recruited into the Central Intelligence Agency and became an intelligence agent. Richard married another agent, Mary Fitzpatrick, and the two of them had a son, Peter Parker, and a daughter, Teresa Parker, though the latter was born in secret.
While Peter was still an infant, Richard and Mary were assigned by a reluctant Nick Fury to infiltrate the Algerian-based spy ring controlled by the Skymaster. Although Fury didn't want to send them on this mission, Richard and Mary understood the risks they were going to take and accepted the assignment. Richard and Mary managed to snatch incriminating files on Skymaster's plans and were about to go back to America with them.
The moment Skymaster learned that Richard and Mary Parker were double agents, he marked them for death. Richard and Mary's mission was almost successful. They would have met with SHIELD agent Angus Thornton and given him the files. However, their plane crashed after being shot down by the Sky Ship. Officially, Richard and Mary died in the crash, but in reality, Skymaster personally executed them in cold blood and took back the files.
Richard and Mary were branded traitors by the government and for years, people thought they were in league with the enemy. But when an angered Peter Parker faced Nick Fury when he found out about this, Richard and Mary Parker's names were cleared. But Peter still doesn't know that his parents weren't killed in the crash, and Fury plans to bring in former agent Angus Thornton, now blind thanks to glaucoma, to tell Peter the truth about the tragic fate of his parents.
