At the top, Maria Morrell (in civilian clothes) and Carol Webster were waiting for her. "SHOW OFF!!!" yelled Maria. "I could crawl like that... if I felt like it." "Just shut up and wait!!!" Spider-Girl yells back. The citizens are looking up with awe at Spider-Girl crawling up. Once on top, Spider-Girl looks at her Web Warrior partners. "Any luck?" asked Spider-Girl. "We've found Maria's father... he's at Ravencroft at this moment... but her mother hasn't made an appearance yet, so we don't want to risk spoiling anything to Carl." said Carol. "As for your father... well, he took his date to his apartment." "Man... well, at least he's out there dating someone... still, I'm curious, Carol... are you sure you're not my mother?" asked Spider-Girl. "If I was, you would have inherited my extended lifespan... you wouldn't have been able to come back in time like this 'cause you would still be a baby." said Carol. "You got a point... if only I could know for certain who my mom was." said Spider-Girl. She then takes a picture from her pocket. We see it's a picture of Peter, but he looks middle-aged. She then hugs the picture. "At least I know my daddy's around!!!" said Spider-Girl cheerfully before starting to spin with her arms outstretched and singing happily. "The hills are alive with the Sound of Music!!!" "She's Mary Poppins, y'all!!!" uttered Maria. Spider-Girl then comically glares at her.

A small shriek is heard as the multi limbed Doppelganger crawled up to them. It let our a call, as if to say it didn't find anything of interest. The spawn of Parker caused him pause as she sang. She was not his prey, she was fine. It was her sire that...
No...the robot and the older Parker told him not to. Had to save everything. Had to keep Mother and Father safe back home. Revenge could wait for now. He had to save...her. Shriek. He missed Mother. Her smile as she caused a man's ear drums to burst was always comforting. The Doppelganger let out a sad noise as it waited for the females to deploy, glad to have a break from it's keeper...and the old one...and the stupid robot.
He hated the robot.
But then something felt off. Or rather...right. His predatory senses flared. It whipped it's head around and called out as it stared at Hell's Kitchen.
Parker was there.
He fired a razor sharp line and took action. If he could not kill Parker...he would kill anyone who tried. It was HIS duty...in time. For now...saving everything was more important. Mother is a part of everything. So was...scary father.
But he hated the robot more.

"Yes... you told me you were Spider-Man." said Gretchen. "Yeah... and thanks to my powers, my hopes of getting married, having kids and living a normal life are almost gone... I'll never be able to just enjoy life as anyone else..." said Peter. Gretchen frowned at this. Peter was someone who didn't like being a superhero. Although a lot of people would pay to have Spider-Man's powers, Peter just didn't like having them. It was like carrying a plague inside him. "Sometimes I've been thinking about... I dunno... running away... leaving everything behind so no one can get to all the people I love... I just can't be close to anyone." said Peter. Gretchen looked at him and hugged him. She then started tearing up. "Peter... please... take me with you... I can't live a normal life, either... everyone chases me because of my powers, and I just can't keep going like this... I already am in danger... I know this sounds selfish, but... I want you to protect me... I..." said Gretchen sadly before stopping and kissing Peter with passion. Peter just kissed her back. After a long time, he felt loved once again. Part of him still wished Mary Jane would come back with him, another wished that Felicia would accept him, and another just wanted to be with this beautiful girl who was alone in this life, just like he was. As they kissed, the shadowy figure we saw before looked at them. We see her more clearly now. She looks a lot like Gwen Stacy, but she is wearing a spider costume. She is crying as she sees this. She is remembering a time before she was brought to life, a time where the original Gwen Stacy was with Peter in this same place and they had their very first intimate moment. Spider-Gwen just cried. "I... I love you, Peter..." whispered Spider-Gwen with sadness. |

Doppelganger growled as he swung.
"DOPPEL...BEHAVE!!" Peter yelled.

Deadpool stood there, being kicked in the leg by Slapstick as Foolkiller stood beside him.
"Not me Pete, bros for life...I would die for Aunt May...if I could. Thanos...he's a douche. Anywho...sorry to interrupt...awkwardness of the future but...on the top of an unwell Aunt May...she is in the hospital. Her heart. My advice...lure whoever is coming for you here. We engage, you GTFO to her." Deadpool told him.
"Did you not notice we had a tag along?" Foolkiller turned to Penny. "Seriously?"
"Heeeeey...you." Deadpool turned to Penny. "You...shitballs. YOu grabbed us, and not in the fun way. I...well...why are you even here?"
"WHY AM I? HE HASN'T TALKED TO ME SINCE I DECKED THE NEUTRON BUM." Slapstick pointed to Peter. "AUGH!! EAT ME PLOT!!!"
"You have nothing to eat." Foolkiller said.

I must... die..." said Gwen sadly as she was about to drop the syringe that would allow her to live another week. Her hair already seemed to be turning grey. |

"Guess even a JJ can find redemption." --- Peter swiftly grabbed the needle and injected it on Gwen's neck. Gwen groaned as her hair color went back to normal. She looked at Peter. "W-why did you save me?" asked Spider-Gwen. "Because I... I can't let you die twice... my love for you has never died..." said Peter softly as he stroked her face. "Peter... I... I can't live a normal life with you anymore... I... I can't have kids... I have to inject myself with this serum every week to live and it's really doin' a number on me..." said Gwen before breaking up. "I'm sorry, boyo... I'm so sorry..." She then teared up as she hugged him. Peter just stroked her hair, kissed her forehead and let her cry on his shoulder. He looks into the sky with regret and sadness. This was all his fault. If he had saved Gwen from the Goblin, this clone wouldn't be suffering. Penny looked down after seeing this. "Even though it's a clone... she does feel like the real Gwen... she even talks with Irish slang." said Penny to Weasel as she teared up, seeing the clone of her childhood friend crying in Peter's arms. |

JJ looked ahead. "Good...and yeah, my problem is that masks are a symbol of secrecy, in the vein of...anyone can be under this mask. For all this JJ knows, I'm Donald flipping Trump Junior, or Red Skull, or...that pizza kid that keeps forgetting the breadsticks, faking being a good guy. Hell texhjically, by keeping myself hidden, I have become that which I feared, a man living a lie. Though more me hiding that I am me outside of the mask."
Just then a young man of about 20 floated up, carrying with him a young girl of 13. "You are taking forever Mr. Jameson. Also...is that scary monster with you all?"
"Alex Power, and Katie...Power Pack is here?" Peter asked. "And they know who you are?"
"Met them and Franklin Richards some time back...you try foolimg a reality warper." JJ said.
"Yeah, Jonah said he spotted a Maggia truck, we saw him, though he was...our Spider-Man...cuz I think you are not ours...and we offered to help." Alex said.
"Yeah, seems to be back up called in by Hammerhead according to the Tallus." Peter paused. "And yeah, the monster is with us."
"Cool." Alex said as he skimmed the group. "Hi." He waved.
"Wow...Spider-girls." Katie remarked.

"Yeah...well...your books stink." Deadpool huffed.
Weasel looked at Gretchen and then at Peter. "You know it's a good thing you didn't have a moment with anyone else here Pete, otherwise this whole scene would be really awkward."

The amount of guilt he is feeling is just too much. Spider-Gwen follows him. Peter looks back and sees her. Spider-Gwen looks at him with teary eyes. Peter's expression was soft and warm, yet filled with regret and self-hatred. He then stroked her face, and as he did, he remembered a time when he and the real Gwen were playing tag at the park. Gwen sneaked behind Peter and tapped his back. "TAG!!! YOU'RE IT, BOYO!!!" uttered Gwen as she ran off. "Oh, I'm gonna getcha, begorrah gal!!!" said Peter playfully as he ran after her. "Man, I'm having a craic!!!" said Gwen happily as she ran. Peter then jumped up and grabbed her. "Gotcha!!!" said Peter as he grabbed her and both fell to the floor. Then, they playfully roll around until they start flopping like fish out of water. Then, they both laugh. "Oh, Peter... you're as mad as a box of frogs!!!" said Gwen. "Well, coming from you, Miss Stacy, I think that's a compliment." said Peter. Then, they both smile sweetly at each other and kiss lovingly. Back in the present, Spider-Gwen looks at Peter and grabs his hands, trying to tell him that even though she is no longer capable to live a normal life, she still cares for him as much as the real Gwen did. Then, they both remember the tragic moment which meant the end of Spider-Man a year ago. The Green Goblin and Spider-Man are brutally fighting over the George Washington Bridge. Gwen wakes up and sees this. The Goblin just laughs and tosses a pumpkin bomb near Gwen. The impact makes her fall. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!" yelled Gwen as she fell. "GWEN!!!" yelled Spidey as he fired a web. Due to sickness, Spidey's webline misses and Gwen hits the ground. "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!" laughed the Green Goblin. "NO!!! GWEN!!!" yelled Spider-Man as he went down to check on Gwen. Spidey grabs Gwen and holds her in his arms. Gwen looks at him and softly removes his mask. "Peter..." said Gwen weakly. "Promise me... that you won't let... the costume... control your life... ever again..." "I will, Gwen... just please... don't die on me..." said Peter. "I... I love you, boyo... and I always will..." said Gwen before closing her eyes and dying in Peter's arms. Peter cried without hope as he held the woman he loved in his arms. Back in the present, Peter collapses in Spider-Gwen's arms and starts crying. "I'm sorry, Gwen... it's all my fault..." said Peter as he started going down on his knees while still hugging Spider-Gwen. Spider-Gwen looked at him and also started crying. She never thought she would ever see Peter this vulnerable. She was at a loss for words and just caressed his hair trying to comfort him. She also looks up into the sky, not knowing how to heal this boy's pain. He begged for forgiveness, but to her, there was nothing to forgive. He tried his best, but he still felt regret. |
